ALMOST A CHRISTIAN, a phony Christian or mutant form of Christianity?

The crises in the today’s church is about a “watered-down faith that portrays God as a ‘divine therapist’” imitation Christianity.

I think that about 90% of “evangelical” Christianity is NOT Christianity at all. Check out this story on CNN site::

Author: More teens becoming ‘fake’ Christians | By John Blake, CNN

(CNN) — If you’re the parent of a Christian teenager, Kenda Creasy Dean has this warning:

Your child is following a “mutant” form of Christianity, and you may be responsible.

Dean says more American teenagers are embracing what she calls “moralistic therapeutic deism.” Translation: It’s a watered-down faith that portrays God as a “divine therapist” whose chief goal is to boost people’s self-esteem.

Dean is a minister, a professor at Princeton Theological Seminary and the author of “Almost Christian,” a new book that argues that . . .

How well do you know you Bible? Below is a theology quiz to test your knowledge of BASIC doctrines of the Christian faith. Answers will be a later post::

Basic Theology Quiz (Answer True or False)

Jesus was God, but only appeared to be human.

Jesus was the first of all God’s created beings.

Jesus had a human body and divine soul.

In the Old Testament, God was known as the Father, in the New Testament, as the Son, and after Pentecost, as the Holy Spirit.

Mary is the mother of God.

God chooses people because he knows in advance they will choose him.

The only way we can be saved is by the perfect conformity to the law of God.

We are saved by grace after all that we can do.

I am saved because of my decision to accept Christ.

God is so sovereign, he can change his mind.

The Bible teaches that there is an age of accountability, and that children who die before this age go to heaven because they are innocent.

If I die with unconfessed sin, I will not go to heaven.

The main motivation for holiness is fear of punishment and hope of reward.

God cannot hold someone guilty for the sins of another.

Justification is the process by which a person, through faith in Christ and sorrow for his sins, receives the gift of the Holy Spirit and so becomes a child of God.

God cannot require of us anything which cannot be performed.

True Christians believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible.

God helps those who help themselves is a biblically sound principle.

Though no one is perfect, the Lord looks on the heart to see who really loves him.

The upgrade to the Kanawha Salines Presbyterian website is almost complete. I am going to try to complete the following this week:

Updated the page Church as Abbey to better explain what Celtic Church of Abbey and how it relates to the concept to covenant. I am going to try to also put information about the building fund and put the progress meter back on even if I have to put a PhotoShopped image of the meter.

Plan to use the current content of the Church as Abbey in a loadable PDF and/or Word document so the pastor could use it in future fund raising letters.

Update the plug-in that enable better fly-off on all scripture reference. I may use a Logos plug-in instead.

Lower the resolution on the image on the Links page so it will loads faster.

Hope to implement a couple new plug-ins that will make the links on the Links page to update automatically with the blogroll feature in WordPress and to have the page to display selected RSS fees on the page as well.

I see some functioning problem with the site like bread crumbs link that don’t function and tabs label not displaying correct information and home page has | which is driving me nuts. I will have to write the author or the vendor of the theme.

I may find more changes I need to fix.

A missionary himself to India, he was a contextual theologian par excellence. He understood long before most that Christians are to be good interpreters not only of Scripture but also of culture.
